bought this game on launch & the depth of it is amazing, it's such a good game even if it werent an rpg & just a shooter itd still be good, you have to have played through this to understand mass effect 2
must have - By: mstan, 31 Aug 2010 I made a mistake by playing mass effect 2 first so the controls where very annoying to begin with. The story is very good, main story only takes about 8 to 10 hours so do all the side missions & you will not be disappointed.

Pros
1. Great story. Pretty much hooked within first 10 mins.
2. Good combat system
3. Has quite a bit of depthin the RPG side of things.
4. After you complete the game you can import your character to the sequal.
5. Good voice acting.
Cons
1. After a bit, you realise your kind of repeating yourself over & over. The game is literally watch, move to one place, shoot etc etc.
2. Very short for an RPG
3. Extreamly menu heavy. Of course with every modern RPG you can customize your characters apperal & stats. But it occurs to muchin mass effect:
-7 different characters
-4 different weapon types each
-2 weapon upgrades for each
-Armour
-Additional stuff
-Stat upgrades
And because the enemy is constantly getting tougher, you dont actually feel the effects of this. After a while I just gave up & didnt bother with most of the upgrades. Way to much micromanagment.
4. Too many loading sections.
5. The powerups you can use, similar problem with the micromanagment. As well as this, they seem to be just a little gimmick. Not really required.
Awesome Effect - By: Suno, 16 Jul 2010 The game was pretty good, had a great story although the main story was only about 6 missions long.
The dialogue was great, this game has what makes an RPG, an RPG, actual choices that influence the plot.
The combat system felt sluggish at times, but it was still fun, albeit it made the game less exciting.
Looking around for minerals is a real chore & by the end of the game I had the max amount of money without getting any type of mineral.
Mass Effect 2 - By: D. Carroll, 23 Jun 2010 Without going into too much detail, as other reviews already give the full details; This is one of the most absorbing RPG/action games I have played. One of the greats that pulls youin & you never want it to end. Excellent character personalities & interaction, & addictive combat mechanics make this my favourite game to date.
