This add-on has proven to be more trouble than it's worth. It wouldn't install at first, but then installed successfully after a complete system restore. Now it has crashed again & the PS3 freezes if you try to run the application. I suggest that you hang on to your money until Sony make this system more reliable.
Play TV crashes - By: Neach, 09 Nov 2008 Got this about 3 weeks ago. Was working great, could record & watch TV through my PS3. Then sometimes it would loose connectivity with my Bluetooth remote. I updated the system's firmware & that seamed to work. Now when you record a program it will record for about 10mins then it will freeze, so I can't really use this for recording now. I am waiting for the next update to see if they fix the problem. PS3 support is really not much help either.

product arrived & is fantastic, i bought this to replace a freeview recorder id bought from a shop & that didnt work very well.
Was really easy & quick to set up, the quality of the menus & the live tv is really good & is the best freeview reciever ive had.
Ok sometimes the EPG doesnt always have all the details when its first turned on, but give it a few mins & ive not had a problem.
Also for all the peoplein reviews who wrote that if you start recording with the unit switched on or if you switch the unit on while its background recording, if you then try & turn it off again it goes back to background recording & WILL automatically turn its self off again. Which is a very handy feature.
But back to the product, all the recording works fine & was easy to use. The pause & rewinding of tv works realy well & is so easy to use. & also finding the programs uve stored is really easy.
so overall a fantastic device for the money.
Just one negative, but not sonys fault, if you have a 40gb harddrive then you will need to upgrade ure harddrive to a bigger one, cause my games alone only left me with 5gb when i checked.
Great gadget, poor reception - By: MKFan, 30 Oct 2008 Although this is a great gadget for the ps3 the reception is worse than my £20 digibox. Never had such poor reception as with playtv. I have since replaced this with my previous cheap digibox as you get breaksin signals every minute & impossible to watch tv.
Another negative is that playtv only records programmes as per the programme guide times. It does not record according to time settings. Numerous times my programmes have overrun, playtv stops recording & therefore does not record the whole of the episode. There is no funtion to programme the playtv to overrun the recording by a couple of minutes.
Not totally useless but wouldn't recommend this.
en España para cuando? - By: J. HERNANDEZ, 15 Oct 2008 Yo el día que salió en UK me lo compré por AmazonUK. En dos días lo tenía en casa y por sólo 80 euros todo incluido. Puedo grabar y pasar lo grabado a el XMB de la consola o a un disco duro externo. Sin ninguna cortapisa de DRM, ni nada .... El menú es genial. Hace bien Sony en no bajarse los pantalones con la $gae si es verdad que lo han hecho por eso. A mi me dá igual, yo ya lo tengo y con los menús en Español... Pobre comercio en España, son los perjudicados...
$gae es anacrónica, igual que las discográficas,... Los artistas que cobren por actuar en directo. Acceso gratuito a la cultura... Vaya país de chupopteros y vividores...
