Have had this charger stand for about a year. I have not really had issues with the battery lifetime, despite it using AAA's instead of AA's. About 6 months ago one of the remotes developed a problem - its blue ligths were dim, & fully charged would only last a few minutes of play. So I couldn't really use it. Now my other remote is completely dead, even if I try with brand new AA's.
I don't know why the charger could kill the remotes, but other users have experienced the same problem, so it seems likely that this charger could be to blame.
Avoid! - By: Nicola Yates, 27 Dec 2008 After reading several reviews I thought its cheap i'll give it a go. Big mistake. Only the front charging dock works, the second one has killed one of our remotes & there is no space at the back to charge batteries. Thought it was great when we first got it but once it lured us into a false sense of security it turned on us. Save your money-don't buy.

Having just bought the Wii for my daughter & not knowing anything about it or the technical details I want to know whether you HAVE to have a remote charging stand, I'm assuming then that there is no other way to recharge the remotes. If this is the case why don't the consoles come equipped with a builtin charger or some other type of charging function. HELP PLEASE. You think the Wii console is a fairly inexpensive item until you have to buy all the add ons to go with it, including extra remotes, nunchucks, wheels, sports accessory packs etc.
Killed my Remote - By: Claire Archer, 18 Nov 2008 Like many others, we have found that not only do our remotes no longer hold charge from the rechargables, but also suck power from standard batteries & are now very temperamental even with standard batteries.
My advise is that the £60 to replace your remotes is not worth the risk of using this product.
