A MASTERPIECE! - By: P. Jackson, 30 Dec 2008
In my opinion, this game is one of capcom's greatest inventions. The graphics are stunning(a mix of Japanese watercolour-paints & computer generated effects). The characters each have their own story to tell & are all specialin their own way. I would rate this game 10/10 if anyone asked, however, I find the most unique aspect is the atmosphere & the story.

Okami is based on Japanese mythology combined with beautiful illustrations. It is about a godin the form of a white-wolf named 'Amaterasu' & the wolf's journey to restore the once natural land to its original beauty. Amaterasu is accompanied by a tiny artist called 'Issun' who is sometimes very amusingin parts of the game. He is just like a little advisor & throws away many clues to help complete tough quests. Throughout the game you are presented with godly powers to aid you on your quest to defeat the evil that plagued the land. These powers are brush techniques(patterns that you draw on the screen) & help solve puzzles further onin your journey. Once you've mastered all thirteen brush techniques, you can make the sun appear, turn daytime into nightime, even create a bomb to finish off your enemies. There are many side-quests for you to complete & as a word of advice, complete one by one-that way they wont co-incide with each other.

The game is reasonably long &in itself, a puzzle to solve. I find the combat quite straight forward once you get to grips with the powers but the challenges can be very difficult at times. The storyline is richly told through pictures & sometimes it is fun to spend a whole session just on side-quests. There is lots to explore & lots to do so this game doesn't get boring once you think you've finished it!

Overall, this game is a treasure for any gamer & beats Onimusha, Ico & God of War as it is well thought out & does not really have an obvious weakness. Okami is a legend; a legend to be told...

worth a look - By: Mr. J. Hill, 06 Sep 2008
Combat is too easy & the dialogue bits can be a little long at times.
Better than Zelda though. Plus it's one of the best looking games I've ever played.
Also, get the PS2 version. Runs better than the Wii version.
Oh! & the bits where you heal the land are really great. Worth playing the game for alone.
Relaxing, quirky, wolf-based fun, but not for the impatient. - By: Helen, 16 Jul 2008
This game is visually stunning, with beautiful scenery, cute animals & an amazing look reminiscent of a Japanese watercolour painting. It is relaxing to play, & although there are demons & monsters to defeat, it is generally not very taxing to defeat them, the main pleasure being derived from solving puzzles along your quest. With such low levels of violence: I really can't understand why it has a 12 certificate.
My main gripe is that on first loading the game you have to sit through FORTY FIVE MINUTES of character dialogue, explainingin depth the legend behind the story. This is utterly boring & wordy, & it is a feature that unfortunatley repeats itself throughout the game. If you have played 'Animal Crossing' then you will be familiar with the repetitive character interaction neccessary to progressin this game.

On the whole though, it i a quirky & unusual game that I have really enjoyed.
Charming and throughly absorbing - By: J. Bower, 12 Jun 2008
The only amazon review I have ever written - I was so impressed by this game. Okami is very, very surprising. Other reviews will tell youin detail about the overall quality of the game (which is excellent), but I'd like to point out that Okami is among the very few games that genuinely have itin them to surprise a player with some experience of videogame cliches. Although Okami looks like a rather pretty cel-shaded rpg/adventure basedin some version of feudal/mythical Japan, make no mistake: the game is absolutely bonkers. No game has ever defied my expecations to such an extent, & done it so confidently & with such flair. Often compared to Zelda, Okami benefits from not relying on established narrative tropes & repeated plot structures, & it is a breath of fresh air to play a game without being able to quickly figure out exactly where it is taking you. A must-buy,in my opinion.
not what i expected - By: E. R. Duran, 12 May 2008
I bought this game after reading wonderful reviews, but i got little bit disappointed.

Well, at first it was awesom. The graphics are really cool & when u start painting is amazing...but after a while....you see flaws.
First i must say that voice acting is anoying. They speak with this understandable voices, that seem cutein the beginning but then you get tired of hearing the green insect.
Story is fine, but nothing really impressive & the enviroment is a quite repetitive after a while. At the end you just have to feed animals, revive trees, dig holes & paint. Maybe because i am more to rpg games. In this game you need ability, a thing that i am lacking...and sometimes it took me ages to complete this minigames required to go forward...At last i couldnt more...i got tired of it.
If you like adventure games with plenty of minigames which require ability, then it is for u...otherwise look for something else
