This was one of the games I wanted to play after getting a PS3 after playing it round a friends. The storyline is quite interesting as it shows earth being over-run by an alien race & focuses on them taking over England & how the americans joinin to help fight them off. You play an american who comes with aid & then get infected with a virus. The graphics are not uber but they are quite good & it is really about the gameplay more than spectacular graphics for this game as it was one of the earlier releases & so didn't make full of the PS engine much like many other games of the time. But, I digress, the story is well scripted & there are cut scenes addedin to give more atmosphere to the game. The voices are done quite well & I have found the game totally addictive so much so that I had to keep playing to complete it, & then when you do you unlock more weapons to usein replays. The game definately has reply value as there are secrets you can pick up & so any you miss you can get afterwards. One of the best aspects of the game is that you can play it with co-op so a friend can run the storyline with you & so you don't have to just solo it!
There are a lot of weapons that can be gained as you progress & each one has a secondary fire option so you get different effects, there are vehicles that can be driven on some levels which is fun & gives a bit of variety.
I have played it on medium difficulty & some of the levels are very challenging which is great as some FPS are too easy to run through on this difficulty. Some people have moaned about the game being too easy or too hard but I feel the balance is just about right, & there is a checkpoint system so if you do die, you don't have to trudge through the whole level again.
This game is definately worth a buy at this price & you wont be dissapointed as it has a lot to give, I have bought the second & will be getting into that very shortly :)
There are also multiplayer maps free from the playstation store & the online element is very fun, you can play as human or alien. Comment | Permalink
Resistance : Fall Of Man - Rise Of A Classic! - By: RAB 1976, 30 Mar 2010 This is not one of those long reviews but if you're thinking of buying this game it is absolutely brilliant! Although I'm quite new to the FPS scence I was'nt sure if I would like it - there was no need to worry! The game is beautifully designed, great graphics, great weapons with engaging gameplay. The way the earth turns ever more alien as the beings gradually take over is superb. It's spooky sometimes & makes you think - "what if?!" The aliens themselves & the countless mutations of their species are so well designed & their footsoldiers with their eery growling & intent to take you down genuinely give you a reason to hate them! Oh & later onin the game there are also the vile mutant offspring that burst out of pods & hunt you down. Overall this game was a great adventure & some of the scenery is awesome - at first I thought the game appeared a litte grey/brownishin colour but as you play on it only adds to the spooky otherworldly feel. Another highlight for me was watching the "carriers" ferry helpless humans to their horrible fate - these are basically flying pods similar to the tripodsin the original War Of The Worlds except they have flowing tenticles instead of legs! There are too many great things to seein this game than you can fitin a review so just go out & buy it. I would happily play this game through again & again it really gets a hold on you! Roll on Resistance 2!!

I've read what other people have put about this game & I'm
shocked they have played the same game I jus have.
it's currently 12 at night, i'min bed ready to sleep
and I'm so annoyed I have to put this down, imagine medal of
honour with mutant aliens. Heavily scripted gameplay,
mahogany wooden charicterisation, as linier as a...
laser beam. Sure this was a release game with console some
two years ago but really. Compared to gears of war, halo 1 2 or 3
Microsoft have put Sony to shame. It's the west four quid I've spent
on a game!

Resistance has been out for a pretty long time now & I have only recently picked this title up. I did not know what to really expect but I wanted something new after playing Killzone 2 & COD to death (no pun intended) - however, I am pleased to say that Resistance provided everything that I was looking for.
Resistance is a solid, old school, arcade shooter. The action is flued & never stops from begining to end! The presentation is really nice & sticks with the alternative WWII theme through out - its also great to see a game like this basedin the UK! A nice change. PS3 titles have come a long way since the release of this titlein regard to graphics - it just can not compete with COD:WAW, Killzone 2 or its sequel Resistance 2 - but that does not matter because the game play is top notch, the story is solid(ish) & the game is good, old fasioned FUN!
Resistance reminds me of those classic shooters from the 90's that based its gameplay on fantastic wepons with tons of power-ups...if you are looking for a FUN shooter for a bargin price look no further!
okay - By: , 06 Feb 2009 this game is a tiny bit short but i still play the story mode even though i've completed. the online isn't gteat but what the heck! at this price buy it
