good game but doesn't save?? - By: Z. Sabin, 14 Nov 2008
i thought this game was really good. got onto world 3 then saved it & turned the ds off... turned back on to find the file saved was not longer there! this happened twice. I know it definitly saved because i loaded it back up whilst the console was still turned on, but as soon as i turned it off... it was gone.

i got this for nintendo ds & as soon as i put this on i started playing it.the game is very enjoyable & you can either play as mario or luigi.on each level you must jump, hit & run your way through the entire stage until you reach the end.the charecters are also well made & there are awesome power ups to get.

This is a really good game. I'd heard fab reviews on it so I bought it myself. It arrived quite slowly but I'd not picked express so nevermind.
At first, you watch a little video, explaining what's going on. Then you pick the first part of world one & carry on going. You can't change charactor, you have to be Mario, but then it makes sense. The games are mixed difficulty; some are easy & some are hard. It does get annoying because if you get stuck on a part of a world, you have to complete it before getting onto the next part. There are 8 worlds all together. In each world there is about 10 levels. Each world is setin a different place including, Desert, Space & a more homey setting. I wouldn't get this game if you get easily irritated with not being able to complete things easily. It's a good game to get you threw long journeysin the car, or just wanting to do something fun. You can also get games where you can play with another nintendo. In this, you can play minigames or Mario vs Luigi. Minigames are simply minigames where you play rounds with another person on another nintendo ds. You can play up to 3 other people on this (4 including yourself). I enjoy this as it is a laugh & a great amount of fun. Mario vs luigi is where you pick a setting (out of 5 different 1's) & you play against another nintendo by collecting stars, & making them lose. It's a competitive game & you easily get annoyed with the other person for getting something or making your person die, & go back to the begining. There's a short area for them to do what you aim for. In Mario vs Luigi you can only do 2 player. The good thing about multiplayer games is that you can connect to another nintendo person who doesn't have New Super Mario Bros. Overall this game is very good & I definately reccommend it.
PURE PLATFORMING FUN ON THE MOVE - MARIO STILL RULES IN DS LAND - By: Mr. Christopher J. Welch, 17 Sep 2008
Although this was released nearly 2 years ago New Super Mario Brothers DS is still hanging around the top 20 & commanding full pricein most Games outlets. Almost uniquein the land of video games, & certainly unhead ofin the handheld world, NSMB has proved a massive hit with adults (looking for retro fun) & their offspring alike. If you like platforming games then this is as good as it gets. Period.
The basic structure & design is as its always been - Mario runs, jumps & squishes baddies - but now its all beautifully presented & the levels are faultlessly designed. The difficulty is set just about right & there are enough hidden levels, bonus sections & secrets to unlock to ensure that you'll be playing this for months. This game actually rewards & encourages replay.
The ace up Mario's little red sleeve though is the mini games - all of which are unlocked from the start - & these can be played solo or with a friend. There are dozens of them - puzzle games, action, strategy & more - many of which are almost as wildly addictive as the main quest.
So the reason for NSMB longevity is simple - it's a terrifc family game & it's great value for money.
