Fun, exciting and well presented. - By: K. Dennis, 31 Jul 2006
Well presented graphics with nicely detailed players & stadiums, all the official licences for the players, leagues & teams, but most important of all a fun & playable multi & single player experience. Fifa 06 is fast & fun & also has a bit of depth, & scoring spectacular goals & making flashy moves with star players is very satisfying & feels intuitive due to the excellent controls. 4/5 overall, if the game was souped up a bit to take advantage of newer pc hardware then a 5 rating would be fair.
Ive seen worse! - By: VX, 16 Jul 2006
After Buying Fifa world cup 2006 I figured I would give Fifa o6 a try aswell.
In all fairness its not the best football game EA sports have produced, but then again its not the worst either. In my opinion the game is let down by only a few factors. The first would be the difficulty of Semi Pro,in my opinion it should be a little easier than it is, mainly because i find Amateur far too easy & Proffessional level far too hard.
Secondly I think the game is let downin that not all national teams are listedin the game, for example, the Netherlands appears to be missing from the game.
All this aside, once you get use to the game it is fairly fullfilling & enjoyable. Heres my lowdown:
GRAPHICS: 4/5 - People complain that the graphics aint all that good, but personally I cant see anything wrong with them.
SOUND/MUSIC: 3/5 - Commentary is comical at times, but repetative & you soon find yourself telling the computer to shut up (or maybe thats just me). The musicin the game is not to my liking - but can be easily turned off.
CONTROLS: 4/5 - If using a gamepad (im using a Logitech rumble pad) the buttons are well placed & easy to use. It is unfortunate that for some reason the ball goesin the opposite direction to what you passed itin at times, but that could be a problem with the gamepad rather than the game.
GAMEPLAY - 3.5/5 - A little harder than it should be at times. The things that annoy me are that the opposition's defense sometimes seems impenetrable & crossing to players doesnt work as well as it should. Another thing I find annoying is the tackling, sometimes getting the ball off the opponent seems like mission impossible - thats my main gripe with the game.
OPTIONS - 3.5/5 - I wish they would include more tournementsin the FIFA series, such as the chance to playin the champions league, the world cup or the European championships (rather than having to buy them as seperate games which really really annoys me - Its greedy) Fortunately there are customisable tournements that allow you to do this to some extent. Other good options the game has to offer is the management mode & creation central mode, allowing you to create or edit players to your liking.
OVERALL 4/5 - Glad I bought it, it will be fun to play for a while. I just hope the next fifa game has a lot more options & has improvements to the faults Ive mentioned.
Good... but graphically dissapointing - By: D. W. Roberts, 10 Jul 2006
The game itself is very fun, however I was extremely dissapointed by the graphics of this game. The graphics are average, but not great, & some textures are very low resolution & look really quite bad. In the year of amazing games such as Elder Scrolls Oblivion, with its supreme graphics, FIFA '06 is put to shame - it really does not take advantage of the greater processing (and graphical) power of a modern PC over its console counterparts - so the game shows quite obviously as a rushed port from console to PC (as opposed to some excellent console ports, such as Fable The Lost Chapters).
Overall, good game, but poor presentation - & prepare to get fustrated, becauase the way saves are handled is buggy & irratating; you'll get several warning boxes each time you save
Be Wary! - By: J. P. Mackey, 18 Apr 2006
I purchased this game with high expectations having been a big fan of the FIFA series for many years & also having just splashed out on an up to date PC. The game steadfastly refused to work with menus flashing & scrolling madly all over the place! I updated all my usb drivers, as suggested by EA, to no avail. For me, this game has been a total waste of money & I will stick with game console versionsin future.
Requires too much PC knowledge to get going - By: , 29 Dec 2005
When the system requirements ask you to terminate background processesin addition to disabling anti-virus programs (the latter is ok for most PC users) you should be careful. I have a high spec pc & the product wouldnt run despite shutting down all processes excluding those providedin a list. Transpires after querying chatrooms, that a patch exists for certain keyboard types (usb?)which I found on a Danish website. This patch, which I couldnt find on ea.com fixed my problem & I can run it fine with all my other processes running. So once you get it going its great, but how many people are happy going through so many loops to get a game going. What is this keyboard problem & why no patch on ea.com? I have a bog standard PC from a mainstream supplier. Anyway, fixed now...
