Firstly id like to point out (as some ppl tend to be unfair when looking at this game) that it is an almost direct port of one of the first games to come out on the Dreamcast Sega's last console, making the original game over 6 years old (way before the playstation 2 even came out).
I remember getting a dreamcast for my birthday with this game, & even today i think its just about the best sonic game ever. the soundtrack isn't bad too & even now the graphics are better than some games out there. even if you were to buy the original Dreamcast version, there's not that much difference.
For those of you that like, or have kids that like, the new 'sonic X' cartoon, this is the first game to give sonic his 'new look'. 'sonic adventure 2' ('sonic adventure 2: battle' if you have the gamecube version), & all the sonic advances kept the same theme going & eventually the cartoon, 'Sonic X' (aired on the channel 'jetix') was also created.
Sonic fans won't be disapointed!

DX is by no means good getting average 50% reviews from mags such as Nintendo official magazine, Cube & NGC. You play as Sonic, Amy, Knuckles & Tails. This game obviously had little effort put into it.
