N64 Classic, Still as good for GameCube - By: Ian Lee, 13 May 2007
I played F-Zero X for hours on end when it was first released on N64, so when I finally got round to buying it for gamecube, I was instantly taken back. The gameplay is amazing, I love how you have to steer & tilt at the same time, you actually feel like the G's are pushing you backin your seat.

There's also a new story mode where you play as Captain Falcon. It's O.K, but I didn't really bother with it.

The only drawback of this game is that its not very long, & I don't think they should have bothered with the custom cars thing. The multi player is amazing. Wiked game, must buy!!!
racing will never be the same again....... - By: Oscar Lewis, 01 Aug 2006
When you first play this game the speed will blow you away & no matter what wipeout enthusiasts say it is the fastest game EVER!
This game is setin the far future where the formula zero (F-Zero) Grand prix is the most dangerous & demandingrace around. Pilots racein machines that hover a foot above the ground & on tracks thatdefy gravity:racing on the inside & out of cylinders over enormous jumps & along thin wall-less tracks 1000s of feet above the ground.
this game is insanely hard though with there being, at first, 3 cups ranging from easy to average to hard these then have 3 difficulty settings for each easy normal & expert. however as you complete more races more cups are unlocked & a new difficulty setting which makes the game so hard completing the easy cup on this becomes nigh on impossible. this is without mentioning story mode which is a series of chapters with different challenges for example there is one where you must dodge falling boulders as you race along & another where you must destroy every other racer. each of these is set on normal difficulty which would be hard on any other & once normal is completed hard is unlocked & very hard after that.
get the picture?
anway the graphics are very sharp but very fast & smooth for the speeds of 2000+km/h & this game can have 30 individual racers on the screen at once without the frame rate slowing a fraction. apart from all this you can make your own machine & can draw your own pics to stick on your machine. there are so many different possibilities it is unbelievable.
because of this games speed I will never again be able to play another racing game without it being too slow save the nextin the f-zero line.

Overall games i Play I play to complete. there are only a few that I play for the sake of playing them, this is straying into that category & once I complete the game it will always be there next to SSB:M, MP2:ECHOES, LoZ:The Wind Waker, 007:Nightfire, GTA san andreas & Pokemon Yellow version.
Most Underrated game EVER! - By: Henry Krinkle, 11 Jan 2006
I can honestly say this is one of the greatest racing games ever made - Racing at 1500mph looks amazing & there's a huge amount to unlock. F-Zero GX is also probably the hardest game i've playedin the past decade. I bought it when it came out & still haven't finished the AX Cup & story missions! If you want a game that will last you ages & will reward you for playing it all the way through (and you already have super smash bros. melee), this is the one! About time Nintendo gave us another timeless classic....
Brilliant game - By: N. Cleeve, 21 Nov 2005
This game is brillant. You play it & your eyes must be glued to the screen. It involves nothing but concerntration. Because it is so fast you cant let your eyes off it. You can make your own vehicle & own logos for it. So many desighs to choose from. If you cant be bothered there is about 30 odd other chracters to choose from anyway.

In my opinion it doesnt get boring either. I need to complete 3 more cups on master now & boy is that gonna be hard word but the point is it keeps you entertained for along time & its the sort of game you can go back to & enjoy.

I must of had it for atleast 2 years now & i'm still going back to it. Thats why i've just wrote this review because i have been playing it today.

Great update for the series. - By: Steven Carne, 29 Aug 2005
I enjoyed the SNES game alot when I used to have it, & the N64 one even though I wasn't very good, so I had my hopes quite high for this game, & it wasn't disappointing at all.
The speedin this game is much more than I expected- I'd seen screenshots of it but I thought that because the graphics looked so nice that speed would have to be sacrificed, but the game moves very fast, & the framerate is perfect too.
If you've never played an F Zero game before, then basically you & 29 others are racing very fast around varied courses consisting of loops & tunnels, jumps, sharp corners etc. & you have to try to win obviously. You have a health bar that goes down if you hit walls, & you can boost which uses up a bit of the bar. If it goes empty then you lose a life. You get no weapons, just the ability to knock other racers so you can blow them up or hit them off the track.
A new addition to the game is the story mode where you play as Captain Falcon & must do a series of [very hard] challenges. These are very fun, & you have to do different objectives on each one, like escaping a building before it blows up. It's very hard though, even on the normal difficulty setting I haven't done the final level, & there is hard mode & very hard mode too, so it should keep you busy!
The GP mode is where the bulk of the game is though, & it's simply trying to win a series of courses. You unlock more courses & difficulties as you progress.
As you play through you earn money to buy things like staff ghosts to race, new levels, new characters, & even new car parts.
You can even design your own vehicle by choosing the parts & what abilities you want like speed, acceleration, weight, etc. & put on emblems that you have designed on the game.
The game runs totally smoothly even on multiplayer, a little bit of background is lost on multiplayer on some levels, but it's nothing particularly noticeable & if it keeps the speed up then I don't mind!
The only problem I have with the game is that it is a little too hard (for me anyway!) so I can't unlock the final cup!
Also a few of the levels have annoying parts that I often have frustrating & unneccessary deaths on. It's annoying when you're 1sp place on lap 3 of a race & you fly off the course because of a moment of poor steering & have to start the race again.
The handling is perfect though, & the game is very fun & there is always incentive to continue. It's a good game just to play a few levels on at a time or to have big sessions on, & you'll soon pick your favourite level.
I can reccommend this to anyone who like's racing games as it is very fun.
