a worthwhile buy - By: Ali, 11 Jun 2006
This game is pretty good. The graphics are good, the gameplay is smooth & the weapons are cool. It follows 4 elite clone troopers & follows the storyline vaguely. The HUDs are very cool. The screen is as if you are seeing out of the visors & if you get shot a lot your visor cracks or if you kill an enemy at close range, blood splats against the visor. This then gets cleared by a white line that comes across the screen. This game is pretty good. If i had played on it before at a friends house i would have got it. Get this if you like star wars.
What a game!!! - By: , 24 Jan 2006
This game is awesomely awesome because it gets all the best bits from every shooter ever & puts it into an awesome game. It is a pity that so many people have overlooked it as 'not star wars enough'.
The action is fast paced & can be tactical (depending on how hard you make it). You arein charge of 3 other commandos of the republic & you face many droidsin typical you-against-the-world missions.
Seriously you should get this game now...
Rainbow Six, with a slightly dissapointing Star Wars twist - By: Eddy Reynolds, 28 Oct 2005
I am, well, I'm not appauled & muchin the same, I'm not amazed. I am, dissapointed with 'Star Wars: Republic Commando' as I expected so much more from this game. At first the game appears to begin well, & infact it does. You blast your way through a few droids & meet up with the rest of your team-mates who all specialisein an ability (I forget the names of the squad) a computer slicer, a demolitions specialist, & a weapons technition. Most people seem to be caught upin the 'hype' of shouting at your squad & them doing somthing, which is not usually really related with FPS's (with the exception of Rainbow Six) & this is all new to some people, as is the fact that this is a Star Wars game & your caught upin the middle of one of the most memorable battlesin the Star Wars history to date...'The Clone Wars' 'Star Wars Republic Commando' is a very similar game to the 'Rainbow Six' series, however (and this is a big HOWEVER) 'Rainbow Six' varies so much more. For example,in 'Star Wars Republic Commando' you could come to a door but detect many threats on the other side (a group of droids for instance. Now at this time there are no decisions to make at all, you just push down your action button whilst targeting the door & your team will move into position blast open the door & throw a grenade in. Now your sat infront of your TV going 'Wait a minute, I didn't tell them to do that, why did he throw that the grenadein there? I wanted to take them out myself!! Grrrr!' Yes thats right! unlike 'Rainbow Six' you cant go up to a locked door with enemies swarming on the other side & go 'Right! I want you to brake down that door & instead of just throwing a grenade in, I want you to throwin a flash-bang & imobilise them, whilst I goin for the final shots' no, no none of that! Now people may be reading this goin 'god hes rather picky!' Hey, I may be picky but when I guy like me likes his games he wants everything to be ya know, just right...smoothe no bumps! <----this is what makes the game, well...repetative I spose. And before I finish this review (and this is what lets teh game down so much!) is i'd like to ave a go at the multi-player, its dreadful! Common lucasarts, you could of at least thrownin some bots for us to fight against, cos when you dont have LIVE then it soons gets very boring! Well I hope you found this review helpful!! Please, if you've take this into account, but you really want the game, go rent it! It wouldnt be a buy for me! ---------Average, 3 stars--------------
Best Star Wars game to date - By: bat214, 06 Sep 2005
Refreshing squad based shooter, taking all the best features from previous titlesin this genre & bringing them all together into the star wars universe to produce a really enjoyable & rewarding game experience.
You control your squad with simple point & click orders, and when not under your instruction they carry on with the mission with impressive a.i.
Also there are plenty of auto saved checkpoints which are useful when things aren't going so well & when you only want to play for a short time.
The graphics & sound track are very good with a resonable storyline & a thoroughly enjoyable shoot em' up.
republic commando - By: , 17 Aug 2005
I brought this game because I played a demo of the single player & it seemed okay. Aside from a few graphical glitches, it is goodin its single player mode, although after a few hours the whole thing started getting repetitive & i ended up going back to another game i was playing. Befor I gave up with this game i tried out the online features, as the only games i really buy these days have to be xbox live compatible but however, the multiplayer was absolutely terrible, you run around & if someone sees you first, all they have to do is shoot you once & you're dead. its so poor, i dont even see the point of the health bar taking up space on the screen because it depletes so quickly. the weapons are nothing great, even the rocket launcher is clunky & feels awkward to use. the team based multiplayer modes are not really that exciting, theres not even a co-op mode! if anyone is looking for a team based online multiplayer game for xbox, go with ghost recon 2 or rainbow six. I traded this back to get ghost recon & im already having much more fun with it
